SUCCESSFUL SCHUCO DRIVING ACADEMY DAYS
|
|
We organised three driving academy days for Schuco at Silverstone and they were judged a great success by those who took part.
The first day concentrated on safe driving techniques and included lessons on car control and a session out on the road with an Advanced Driving Instructor. At the end of the day we held a timed run in a Caterham to see who had mastered the car control the best. The quickest run of the day was by Darren Grover.

The second day was all about performance driving in road cars. All drivers had a little more tuition on car control and then some circuit familiarisation in the incredible Lotus Exige. They then had the chance to take their own road cars out on the track for high speed experience! Finally, we ended the day again with a Caterham challenge and the quickest driver of the day was Graham Bailey.
The third and final day gave the opportunity to drive a race car. After circuit familiarisation in the Exige and car familiarisation in the Formula First at controlled pace, the drivers were given the opportunity to drive as fast as they could in single seaters! To add some spice and give a racing 'experience' a bank of simulators was brought in for 8 drivers to race each other in Ferraris on the virtual circuits of Monza and Suzuka! Driver of the day was Alan Fry.
